Spoilers ahead The plot is simple, a key witness must be taken 16 blocks away from the jail to the court to testify against some dirty cops by the protagonist. Jack mosly at present is an alcoholic cop who has lost interest in his job but once he has taken up the mission we don't see him drinking. A very well written character. Even after the first attack on Eddie, he wants to drink, but once he knows the seriousness of the situation he stops completely. Eddie is the soul of the movie, a beautifully written character. For a good action movie to work, the cause, the threat must be bang on. The cause is to save the kid, and the threat is the whole cop system. It's a one vs all situation. As an audience we want this guy Eddie to be safe, and we instantly connect to Jack. What a climax, brilliantly written.
