what it truly wants to be. Whether it’s a story about love, identity, or determination, the narrative keeps shifting focus. The love story, in particular, feels stitched into the screenplay at several points rather than flowing organically. That said, it’s a cute film and never becomes a tiresome watch. It’s definitely worth watching. As always, I’m a big fan of Rathna Kumar’s writing, but don’t walk in expecting the magic of Meyadha Maan. This feels more like a film about age, self-reflection, and perhaps even a semi-autobiographical expression of the thoughts and experiences he’s shared in interviews. Despite its flaws, there are some genuinely beautiful scenes and dialogues that stay with you. Vidhu Kumar is another major positive. Ever since Retro, I’ve been a fan of his voice and screen presence. He has tremendous potential, and I hope Tamil cinema continues to make the most of his talent. He feels like the perfect choice for portraying a relatable 29-year-old boy-next-door character. Preethi Asrani stands out with a grounded and natural performance. Overall, 29 is a calm, composed film with a script that lacks complete conviction in its focus, but it still manages to be an enjoyable and comforting watch. Not a masterpiece, but definitely a candy watch.
