"A Psychological Drama That Feels Empty”
This film is a psychological drama
that spends most of its time inside the mind of the main character, played by Colin Farrell. The story focuses on his mental state — his guilt, greed, and gambling addiction. Colin Farrell delivers a very honest and powerful performance, making the character feel real and deeply troubled. You can clearly see his inner struggle, and that is one of the strongest parts of the movie.
However, the screenplay has some problems. At certain points, the story suddenly shifts into a slightly supernatural tone, and these moments do not blend smoothly with the rest of the realistic psychological drama. Because of this, the emotional connection becomes weaker. Also, when mysterious characters enter the hero’s life, their subplots are not developed properly. Their presence feels important, but the writing does not fully explain their purpose, which makes parts of the film confusing.
Overall, it’s an unconvincing and boring psychological thriller.
