The Cine Column
Bhooth Bangla plays like a film caught in the throes of an existential crisis.
The first half unfolds as a loud, hyperactive montage of physical comedy, while the post‑interval stretch abandons humor entirely, morphing into a dense and convoluted folklore drama steeped in demonic rituals, blood sacrifices, and ancient sages.
Instead of witty situational humor, the comedy relies almost exclusively on characters shrieking, overacting, and indulging in physical abuse. Tabu is criminally underutilized in a brief, unimpactful appearance that includes a painfully awkward dance sequence. Wamiqa Gabbi’s subplot feels forced and underwritten, existing purely as a narrative convenience rather than a meaningful contribution.
On the whole, Bhooth Bangla proves that copy‑pasting a classic formula does not guarantee cinematic magic. What emerges is a loud, chaotic, and disorganized mess that sacrifices genuine storytelling for cheap nostalgia bait.

It's a timepass film, I watched it for Priyadarshan.
Almost predictable storyline, outdated jokes, and references to his old films are desperate nostalgia bait.

Priyadarshan's #BhoothBangla is a terrible film (unbearable horror, bearable
comedy) that suffers from a #BhoolBhulaiyaa hangover. Oh, but I did manage to find something truly

The iconic combo of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar is back after 14 years, and
honestly, just that fact alone had me excited walking into the theatre. Add Paresh Rawal, Rajpal
