Christy (2025) is a Biography, Sports Drama that tells the story of Christy
Martin, the woman who brought female boxing into the mainstream.
The film portrays her boxing career, love life, marriage,
controversies, and a life full of complications with striking realism. It opens up every chapter and every turning point of her life right in front of you, without holding anything back. You may go in expecting a typical sports drama, but while watching the film, your heart sinks. Seeing such extraordinary talent slowly get destroyed because of male ego, societal mindset, and deep-rooted insecurity is painful to witness. And this is just a glimpse-there's much more in the film that will break you emotionally. This is how a biopic should be made-raw, honest, and without filters. Despite everything, Christy makes a comeback, and the film powerfully captures her rawness, determination, unbreakable spirit and resilience. Honestly, someone needs to tell me- why is this film not in the Oscar nominations?
This is one of the best biopics of the year.
