MAN OF CINEMA
Story about a boy with a good heart but needs a family who will love him
wholeheartedly.
An irish contemporary film about an orphan in Cork who's about to turn 18 and age out of foster family services while trying to navigate the influences of his numerous extended family members, remembering past painful memories and while creating new ones with friends he makes. It gives you a great sense of community for better or worse that you get attached to and how it can make you a better person.
The film has its own charm and humour that is really good and feels so genuine. You might say it follows similar trope like other films where the teenager is stuck and confused snd irritated with lack of identity, and sense of belonging and end feeling alienating growing up, but this story also offers an shift, moving our expectations into a journey that’s more important, while always remembering within the world that hope, love and support can be found in simplest of things.
