As Byomkesh tries to solve this mystery, the investigation gradually leads him towards a much bigger conspiracy. The sets beautifully recreate the pre-independence world, while the film presents its story in a realistic and grounded manner. The mystery constantly revolves around what might have happened, certainty, and possibilities. It creates a greyish, shady atmosphere that perfectly suits the story. The film explores themes of deception, truth, personal motives, betrayal, and manipulation. The cinematography is outstanding, and the music works really well with the atmosphere. The performances are also strong, with a talented ensemble bringing depth to their characters. The film initially follows a whodunnit murder mystery treatment, but as the story develops, it gradually turns into a conspiracy thriller.
