“A Good Sci-Fi , Not a Spielberg Classic”

Spielberg returns to the alien genre after Close Encounters, E.T., War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Unlike Crystal Skull, only one that received a mixed response from audiences for combining aliens with an action-adventure story.
Instead of asking whether aliens exist, Disclosure Day explores a more interesting question: how would governments react if they knew aliens were real? This idea drives the story throughout.
The screenplay takes time to build mystery, which makes parts of the movie feel a bit slow. However, the connection between the aliens and the story keeps the audience engaged throughout.
Rather than exploring alien life in depth, the film focuses on government secrecy and hidden truths. The thriller elements, including a train chase sequence, keep the story moving, while the reveal of how Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor's characters are connected to the alien mystery works well.
The ending justifies the title Disclosure Day. The way the film portrays humanity's reaction to the confirmation of alien life is thoughtfully written. Spielberg chooses to end the story on a mysterious note.
