DJ Ahmet (2025) is a Czech Republic musical comedy-drama set in a small, remote
village. The film follows Ahmet, a young boy who lives with his younger brother and their father. They survive by herding sheep and raising chickens, struggling daily with poverty. Because of financial hardship, Ahmet’s father is forced to take him out of school and assigns him the responsibility of grazing the sheep.
As the film gently observes their everyday rural life, a quiet love story also unfolds. Fate does not allow the lovers to be together—but what remains free and unstoppable is their love for music.
The film is slow-paced and atmospheric, beautifully shot against the stunning mountain landscapes. It reflects the conservative mindset of the villagers and the rigid social rules that govern their lives, while boldly choosing freedom over conformity. Love here is rebellious—it creates confrontation and pushes toward reform.
DJ Ahmet ultimately becomes a story of love, music, and freedom, where music turns into a voice of resistance and hope.
