Plot In A Nutshell: The film shows the
family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Anne Hathaway as they struggle to cope with the death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet.
Since this is a historical drama set in the 16th century, the story begins with the meeting of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, which later leads to their marriage. The film then shows their everyday life, simple routines, and the joy that comes with the birth of their children.
As the children grow older, the story becomes more emotional. After the death of their son, the film focuses on the pain and mental struggles of the couple, especially Anne, who suffers deeply while Shakespeare is away for work.
Along with strong performances, the cinematography and production design beautifully recreate the 16th-century atmosphere, especially the interiors of the houses, helping viewers feel connected to the characters and their emotions.
Overall, the director Chloé Zhao does an excellent job in presenting the story with strong visual beauty. Even though the narration is tight. The film succeeds in delivering a powerful and emotional storytelling experience.
