did NOT expect this to outdo the first movie.
that seemed imposible. kantara was already a once-in-a-lifetime kinda film. crazy that it did this, but here we are. prequels rarely ever work for me, is the thing. they feel like lesser variations of the original and answer questions absolutely no one asked while diminishing what made the first movie special. but this movie... it does the opposite. it deepens everything. it enriches the mythology. it stands as a monumental achievement in its own right.
