The movie is built on a nice fantasy idea, but instead of focusing on that and
the romantic drama, the film tries too hard to be a commercial entertainer. It keeps adding slapstick jokes and silly comedy scenes that don’t fit the story. Because of this, both the fantasy part and the romance lose emotional depth, and the screenplay never fully connects.
In the second half, a few extra subplots are added, but they also feel routine and predictable. The writing becomes more conventional and boring, and nothing truly fresh happens. However, the animated prologue at the beginning is actually interesting and stands out as one of the better parts.
Overall, A good concept, but weak writing and forced comedy stop the film from becoming a proper fantasy entertainer.
