Marty Supreme

the sore loser, Marty the selfish prick, Marty the dead soul. Marty Mauser was all these things, but he was never Marty the Supreme. The idea of supreme was in his mind which comes from his ego, narcissism, pride in his talent and impulsive nature without minding the consequences. Infact Marty was the clown 🤡 until the climax, he was put down, slapped, shot at, got spanked and humiliated until the moment where stand for the right reason and realises what is important. Marty was like that horse who was blinded by glory and greed on both sides that he did not care about anyone's feelings. But the problem for me was neither the caricature of the character nor the storyline, it was the character development arc which just shifts suddenly at the end. It takes years to lose his character traits which he built upon himself over the years. But at the end all it took was one humiliated game where he gets this realisation and goes back to his newborn kid whom he never acknowledged as his in the whole movie. All the build up the character had felt wasted at the end and that ending did not sit right with me. It became very cliche, i expected a much better ending. Safdie had enough length to give a perfect arc to the character. If Timmy boy hadn't pulled off this character in such an insane way then this movie wouldn't have been fan fav like it is now. He literally carries every single frame, along with the brilliant screenplay and dialogues of the film. Its out n out powerful performance driven film.
