Mollywood Times

2026 Malayalam MovieDrama Comedy
POWERED BYJustWatch

A young aspiring filmmaker dreams of becoming Malayalam cinema's greatest horror director, determined to "save" the industry despite his father's warnings about the limitations of their film world.

Jinesh Muralidharan
Abhinav has done it again with Mollywood times by creating something unique .
In Mukundan Unni we had a protagonist who will do absolutely anything to succeed but in Mukundan Unni , the protagonist Vineeth Madhavan who wants to be become the best horror filmmaker of Malayalam cinema will accept success only in his own terms based on his own obsession. Not just the protagonist, there are many interesting characters and like Vineeth we have Sachin and Sujith raj who have their own definition of success and each is different from the other . The director creates an absorbing drama with these characters when they’re trying to succeed in the industry . Some interesting cameos and Abhinav’s signature editing patterns with the voice overs animations make it a delightful watch .There is a repeated pattern to the second half and you feel the length at times but it’s the protagonist mind which keeps trying again and again despite constant hurdles at his footsteps . Like Vaanga and Aditya Dhar where one might not subscribe to their politics but what you can bet on them is their absolute conviction to do films they want and we can truly say Abhinav sunder nayak belongs to this clan and I will always be seated for his creations .

the most honest, brutal, beautiful coming of age film I had ever seen.
It almost felt like a tight slap for those who wander in fantasies and not accepting the reality! Loved it

As someone who doesn’t really believe in poetic justice, Mukundan Unni Associates worked perfectly for

A love letter to Malayalam cinema.
Another bold attempt from Abinav Sundar Nayak's usual style. A film that gives freshness with its script and making right from the beginning of

It was a fabulous movie, and I could really relate to it. As an aspiring filmmaker, I felt a strong connection to the story. Abhinav Sundar

Unlike traditional underdog cinema that charts a neat rise to glory, Mollywood
Times follows a filmmaker’s grueling ten‑year odyssey. The first half captures the baby steps and

- A true hate letter to cinema with Abhinav Sundar Nayak’s signature style of
filmmaking and dark humour which landed well with me. Great direction, cinematography, engaging

“The Ugly Side of Chasing Cinema” Movies about cinema usually follow a
familiar journey of struggles and success. However, Mollywood Times avoids that formula and stays true to
