taking half a star away because inspector lunge is a FREAK and he annoys me.
maybe not anymore, but anyways. clockwork narratives are so underrated, man. monster requires patience. and monster does not give easy answers. but if you're willing to commit to the pace, the reward is so, SO great. the narrative depth is unparalled. the entire series operates on a ripple effect. urasawa is crazy. he's given you just enough to keep you hungry, and then he pivots to a completely different character in a completely different city 😭 i am a big fan of the fact that the entire story was anchored by tenma's moral compass, and i am a big fan of the anime in general. absolute banger.

monster is the kind of cat-and-mouse-chase plot that doesn't tire you out or
feel redundant and boring, i'm not a huge fan of the concept of "he is the Devil, the greatest evil.
