Yet instead of nuance, political depth, or authentic storytelling, the film delivers a formulaic, loud, and deeply predictable “savior” narrative we’ve seen countless times before. The historical setting briefly sparks interest, but S. Suresh Babu’s screenplay quickly descends into chaos. Rather than exploring the political complexities of the era, the film uses the 1950s merely as wallpaper for generic street fights, preachy monologues, and contrived hero‑elevation sequences. In trying to appease every demographic—balancing Communist, Church, and opposition perspectives—the script becomes overly cautious, ultimately standing for nothing. The first half suffers from severe tonal whiplash, forcing Tovino Thomas into awkward slapstick routines that fail to land. The romantic subplot with Kayadu Lohar feels mechanically inserted to tick commercial boxes, dragging the runtime into a sluggish crawl before the interval. By the second half, the film attempts an Avengers‑style assembly of side characters for a climactic showdown, but the emotional foundation is so weak that the finale carries little weight. Even the late cameo by Prithviraj feels like a desperate attempt to salvage a film running out of steam. The undisputed highlight is Jakes Bejoy’s score, which injects bursts of energy into otherwise flat scenes. Unfortunately, the action choreography is undermined by choppy editing and glaring visual glitches—including strange frame‑rate distortions during the climax fight that pull viewers out of the period setting. Despite its intriguing historical backdrop, Dijo Jose Antony’s heavy‑handed direction, reliance on outdated commercial tropes, and timid screenplay reduce Pallichattambi to a tiring, forgettable affair.
