Rosemary's Baby

1968 English MovieDrama Horror

A young woman suspects her neighbors have sinister plans for her pregnancy.

this is another very important film.
a woman's lack of control over her own body and the medical system's clear dismissal of her physical pain. oof. hits very close to home. the 'fear' is generated by rosemary's forced isolation. the cult members very methodocially remove her access to reliable friends and then they attempt to convince her that her VERY accurate observations of their activities are just hallucinations. gaslighting at its finest lol. no one in this movie is visually frightening, but that's exactly the point of this story, i think, that dangerous groups often use an appearance of ordinary domestic life to conceal what they are actually like. not the first time i've seen paranormal elements used to emphasize real-world vulnerability of women, and won't be the last. great watch.

this movie feels so bleak when you think about how much medical misogyny has
just not improved at all in the last 5 decades since this movie came out. Mia farrow is amazing in
MAN OF CINEMA
A perfect psychological slow burn horror, which has treatment of stage play
makes it a compelling movie to witness. it’s a dark, wicked, ingenious mystery you will ever see.
G T Baranidaran
Painstakingly scary film, the OG behind every great horror film like Hereditary
and many more. The way it was made is like pricking and penetrating the needle extremely slowly
