I didn't even know this movie was coming out until 2 days back but I was
surprised by it in a good way. The Acting Performances, Mohit Suri's direction and the music are the real strong factors here with it's weak writing being kind of a letdown. But it still has very beautifully written moments by Sankalp. It has great feels and actually makes you care for the characters but it does become melodramatic at times. Some decisions taken by the leads just seems unnecessary. Yes, it's cheesy but I don't mind it. Many moments actually made my heart heavy and teary eyed.
Aneet Padda stole the show for me in Saiyaara. It doesn't at all feel like a debutant's performance. Man she's soo incredible. She plays the character of Vaani Batra, a song writer, with a certain simplicity, beauty and elegance, which made me just fall in love with her. She's so cute and beautiful mannn. And she shares a really great chemistry with Ahaan. I hope to see her in many more projects. She made me feel so connected to Vaani.
Ahaan Panday makes his debut as well and he is good as Krish Kapoor, an ambitious indie singer. He did well in the intense scenes as well as the romantic ones. He is excellent in the emotional scenes and the way he portrays distraught and heartbreak is very effective. He actually has good screen presence but he was let down by the single tone nature of the writing of the character.
I've seen Alam Khan in many shows and serials but I was so happy to see him shine in the role of VK, he was a great support to Ahaan.
The movie talks about how songs shouldn't be made for likes and virality but should be made to make people feel things and go back to moments connected with them and the songs of the movie genuinely do that. The songs are composed by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra Sachet-Parampara, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishabh Kant, Faheem Abdullah, Arslan Nisam and they are very Soulful and I'm sure this music album is gonna be remembered for a long time. Personally loved "Barbaad", the title track and "Humsafar". The score by John Eduri is really good.
The dialogues by Rohan Shankar, The lyrics by Irshad Kamil and Raj Shekhar are really good as well
