Tere Ishk Mein

The first half is just about watchable, but after the interval it becomes very hard to sit through the rest of it. I honestly don’t understand what director Anand L. Rai wanted to say with this film. The total duration of the movie is 2 hours and 47 minutes. The “angry young man” character played by Dhanush, becomes funny during second half instead of emotional. The writing gets especially weak in the second half, where the story moves forward without any clear purpose. The complicated relationships shown in the film only make everything more confusing and messy. The only part that works emotionally is the writing around Dhanush’s bond with his father, played by Prakash Raj. Their scenes feel honest and nicely written. In terms of performances, everyone has acted well and done their best with what they were given. A.R. Rahman’s songs and background score are okay. In the end, the movie leaves all its characters heartbroken, but the real heartbroken person is me for watching it. Movie Reviewer Survival Note: "If you disagree, fine.
