"Watchable, But Not Very Impactful Sports Biopic"
This movie is a biopic
sports drama based on the real life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr. I watched it without knowing much about his real story. The movie shows his life, career, and personal struggles, but it doesn’t try too hard to make everything look very dramatic.
The screenplay is very simple and smooth. Even the scenes where he faces failures or problems in life are shown in a normal way, not in an over-the-top emotional style. The wrestling and UFC fight scenes are also shot in a very basic way, without any stylish or punchy slow motions.
His family life, relationship issues, and personal struggles never pushes emotions to the extreme level, so the impact is a bit less. But because of that, the movie never feels boring. It just flows calmly and ends without giving a heavy emotional hit.
Dwayne Johnson was superb throughout the film. His physical appearance really suits the role, and his acting felt strong and natural. Emily Blunt also did a great job. She handled the emotional scenes very well.
Overall, An okayish sports biopic that is watchable but not very impactful.
