Story Time Ever since I can remember, I have heard stories about The Sound Of
Music from my mother, who in turn had watched the film with her mother (my grandmother). Perhaps it was the music or the performances or even the story that had drawn my mother into the film as a child. Just for the records, I happened to watch the film for the first time in the early 2000s after my mother insisted on purchasing a VCD! Cut to this weekend, when The Sound Of Music was to re-release on its 60th Anniversary. It had already been labelled as a classic by now, and I had already rewatched it about 20 times. But I really wanted my mother to revisit the film on the big screen, a film that has always been dear to her. .... It remained a small and intimate screening with a handful of folks in a theatre. But what I saw next was nothing short of magic. There were collective hums in the audi when the songs played out. But over the next three hours, I witnessed my mother revisit her childhood once again - she hummed, laughed, cried and had a wide smile on her face. These are the moments we live for really - the magic of good cinema that not only touches your hearts but also contributes to such offscreen cinematic moments❤️. And for the record, my mom was a part of a rare feat - of watching the same film in a theatre with her mother and her son, on two separate occasions. I enjoyed, she enjoyed and our day was made. The magic of the big screen is unbeatable.
