Turtles Can Fly

2004 Kurdish MovieDrama War
POWERED BYJustWatch

Near the Iraqi-Turkish border on the eve of an American invasion, refugee children, like 13-year-old Kak (Ebrahim), gauge and await their fate.

MAN OF CINEMA
"They know math and science.
they have to learn how to shoot now!" In the times where countless Palestinian kids are getting killed with no mercy, watching this film made me even more emotional, disheartened and sick of humanity that is fading away because of meaningless wars. Its a deeply disturbing and haunting story of refugee kids stranded in a Kurdish refugee camp because of the USA - Iraq war, where these children navigate survival, hope, and loss in a world torn apart by conflict. This is the first film to be made in Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein. All of the child actors in this movie were actual refugees. The film brilliantly portrays the effects of War on people. It is a moving piece of cinema which discusses profound issues of human issues such as survival, resilience, and the impact of conflict on children and society. It depicts how children living in a war-torn region struggle to cope with the harsh realities of their environment. Wars only bring evils & destroy the future of children.
