Mass Masala or Mess Masala?
This movie had a strong core idea, but it got
ruined because the makers tried to turn it into a mass masala film. The real story actually starts only just before the interval. Till then, the movie is filled with many unnecessary scenes that don’t add anything to the story.
This story had no scope to become a “mass” movie, but the screenplay forcefully adds elevation scenes from the very beginning. Because of this, the flow feels artificial. The character writing is also very weak. None of the characters feel natural or well-developed. Even the heroine’s bold attitude feels forced and not convincing.
Performance-wise, only Shammi Thilakan and Anu Mohan stand out. The rest of the actors, including Prithviraj, look artificial and lack emotional depth.
Jakes Bejoy’s background score tries hard to lift the movie, but because of the messy script and weak storytelling, even his music cannot create a proper impact.
Overall, a good idea wasted by poor execution, forced mass elements, and unnecessary length.
