i need you to understand that the excessive
exclamation marks are entirely justified because this is one of those rare shows that just fills you with pure joy. this show is like, funny. like, genuinely, consistently, LOL funny. but it's also so much for than that !!!!!!! it's dear to me in ways that go beyond comedy. it's just so warm and specific and bursting with love for its characters and the world they inhabit. watching an all-muslim punk band navigate life, music, friendship, and identity shouldn't feel revolutionary, but somehow it does. and the show does not make a big deal out of it, but that aspect of it just exists with such confidence and joy. these women are messy, complicated, hilarious people who happen to be muslim and happen to be in a punk band. it's hilarious without being frivolous. it tackles serious topics like identity, faith, family expectations, artistic ambition without EVER feeling heavy-handed. i just love this show. you should love it too.
