MAN OF CINEMA
A classic masterpiece which showcases the
difficulties and psychological
horrors faced by child celebrities in their adult life, most famous child artists are instantly labelled by their one brilliant performance which sometimes works for them as negative in their adult careers, when that fame fades away their start to lose their sanity, identity and finally grip on reality.
Here we see Jane Hudson famously known as Baby Jane Hudson in her childhood, is definitely not over from the fame of childhood, now even in her old age she still earns for that fame and name so much that she embodies Baby Jane as her personality. Like she is possessed by the ghost of Baby Jane. That's where this film turns into a brilliant psychological horror film.
The film also explores how fame poisons family bonds, and the consequences of suppressed resentment, jealousy ,guilt and ever growing hatred.
What a stunning performance by Bette Davis, best portrayal of a vulnerable character descending into madness. In many ways this film paved the way for female centered horror films acc to me.
