28 Weeks Later picks up where the first left off, but trades the gritty, raw
vibe for something bigger and more polished. It doesn’t lose all of the original’s tension, though—there’s still that creeping dread underneath.
This time around, the horror comes with a layer of military control and red tape, which gives it a more political angle. Unlike the more grounded 28 Days Later, this one goes full action-horror. The infected are nastier, the chaos is bigger, and there’s a helicopter scene that’s totally insane (in the best way).
That said, the emotional punch doesn’t hit quite as hard. The characters don’t really pull you in—they feel more like they’re there to move the story forward than to make you care. Still, the mood is intense, the pacing’s relentless, and those themes of trust and survival? Still very much there.
