Rodolphe Lauga created a very good action film in a very nuanced approach that
works exceptionally but and potential to be more.
First of all, the acting performances were extraordinary. Guillaume Canet was outstanding but Stephane Caillard was the show-stealer. She was fantastic. All the other ensemble did a great job.
Coming to the film, I say nuanced because this film starts and indulges in the action part within 10 mins and after 10 mins, the protagonist's purpose is pretty well established but what impresses me the most is that the film, for the next 35 mins, focuses on the why ( through a flashack that goes for 35 mins approx. ) rather than what next. That nuance is what makes this film stand out from the other action films this year. Kudos to Rodolphe for this non-linear screenplay approach. It seems most of the people found the flashback approach as a slower of momentum but in my opinion it's the best thing about the film. It impressed me a lot.
The cinematography of this film is magnificent elevating the experience to a whole another level. Especially in that gliding scene, the camera work was simply fantastic. Even though I think a scope format like 2.39:1 would suffice, the approach of shooting the film in 1.85:1 ( proving even in action films character tension and intimacy is the important thing) makes me respect the film more. Kudos to Vincent Mathias. The score was great. The sound design was fantastic. The action scenes were also very grounded most of the time. The camerawork in the car-chase scene was great.
The scene where Franck comes out of jail in the end and meets with his wife and daughter while the friend watches them in a wholesome way without disturbing them felt very epic.
Coming to the negatives, the ending was very rushed. The film should have focused on everything more like about the villains in detail and how it will impact the society and stuff. And even though the action was great, it needed more tension and intensity to it.
Nevertheless, this film was a great ride.

Logical mistakes aside, it's an average action thriller.
I can't say it's great. The first one hour is filled with a lot of unnecessary scenes. One-time watchable.

Poor & Cringed story line with lazy making, don't waste your time.
