An exceptionally crafted debut film that flows with such a great pace with
full-on fun and entertainment with a little bit of horror elements induced. Alex Scharfman did a fantastic job for a debut. Having your debut project with A24 is turning out to be a blessing for people and hope we would get to a lots of Alex in the future. Excited for his next work already. There's a lot of symbolism in play here just like any other A24 film. The film employs themes like nature vs Exploitation, Father-Daughter dynamic and Mythic Justice. The Unicorns symbolises pure untamed nature destroyed by human greed especially big Pharma. I loved the Father-Daughter reconciliation part of the film. Elliot's shift from self-preservation to sacrifice mirrors Ripley's emotional journey very clearly. Mythic Justice, in the case, the Unicorns enact absolute moral retribution. Paull Rudd and Jenna Ortega were absolutely fantastic. Will Pouter nailed it in the perfect delivery of comedic dialogues. The cinematography of Larry Fong was splendid. The editing was great. The score by Dan Romer & Giosue Greco was great. The sound design is outstanding. It uses eerie silences and natural ambience to tighten tension between whimsy and gore sequences. Good use of practical effects. Puppets by Filmefex bring realism to the shape and structure but is let-down by meh CGI. Could have spent some more in CGI but would it be worth it or would it elevate the film more? No. I don't think. The experience this film will give will stay the same even with top-notch CGI. Even though the comedy worked well mostly, I felt the film should have had the Robert Eggers mood to it. Full on serious package. The tonal shift was a big problem in the film. The film focuses on mythology but not quite delves deeply into it and uses it as a way of release. Instead the ending is very different but it still has a little bit of that Mythology induced in the climax. And finally the Father-Daughter dynamics could have had more depth to make us feel for them a lot more. The gory sequences were outstanding. The film critiques greedy corporate people and i loved it. Anyways, just watch the film and you will have a good time watching a good film. Not the best, not the worst. Good film.

Horror? Thriller? Scifi? Satire? Whatever this A24 Cocktail was, it did not
have any effect on me. Another A24 bummer this year. Paul Rudd was so under-utilised in this film i
