MAN OF CINEMA
"As a parent, how far would you go to protect your only daughter's sins?"
When
i saw Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney in mother daughter roles, i was up for it, sat on saddle and hoped for a great ride of crime thriller drama.
Well it does deliver what it promises, but it was not meant for this big 2025 era, the story feels like a rehash of many old repeated crime mystery thrillers, offers nothing more, other than a stunning performance from Julianne Moore.
Film also takes like half an hour to build up the thriller and intensity which was needed from the start for this genre. Initially it feels like you are watching a different movie but then sudden genre change happens and the story starts to move at a higher pace, which eventually feels liked rushed towards the end. Apart from that initial good plot twist, all other things feel very predictable and you will know firsthand how this is going to end.
sound design and cinematography are also pretty commendable, which creates a perfect atmosphere for the film. If only the script had something fresh and unique and twisted, it would have been great.
With a stellar cast and brilliant craft of filmmaking it lacked a better story, which feels a tiny bit underwhelming.
