Underrated!!!!
Rewatching this film after 7 years and it just hit very hard
this time compared to las. I didn't understand the politics of the film back then but now, after realising what the film tries to convey, it just blows my mind.
A magnificent sci-fi action thriller that will probably scare the shit out of most people if it released today.
This film was ahead of it's time. The twists of this film is mind-blowing.
The film explores themes like Identity and Memory, and Perception.
The film takes place in a dystopian world. The film showcases how humans themselves hate their invention taking over them and how they start war against their invention and how the invention rebels against their creators and forms a civilisation of their own. The blend is very well done.
The film takes a non-linear structure and places it into the narrative magnificently. The non-linear approach elevates the film to another level. The editing was outstanding.
The score and sound design was fantastic. The Newton brothers blends electronic and orchestral elements for the tension and emotional moments. The familial moments were extremely well done.
The acting performance were amazing. Michael Pena was superb. Lizzy Caplan was great.
That scene where the soldier asks to Pena whether he knows who he really is or what is his identity was well written. Kudos to the writers. The CGI and VFX were extremely well crafted.
The Cinematography was splendid. The colour palette was muted most of the time and used green and reds for some tension moments.
The film has a very short runtime for its big story plot and it feels rushed at some points.
This is a very good time to continue the story of this film to the next level adding two sequels and a prequel. This story and this film deserves that.
