MAN OF CINEMA
I was a bit hesitant to watch this because i thought the movie was made for the
sole purpose of fan service of kpop fans. And i don't listen to kpop.
And after watching the movie, now i am sure the movie was literally a fan service to cash grab and nothing else.
The biggest flaw of the movie for me was that it was made in english. Kpop fans listen to those songs in the Korean language, they love that music. The film should have been in the Korean language. I would have enjoyed it more if it was made in Korean, i even switched to korean lang on Netflix, but the dubbing was not good.
Second is the authenticity, you are showcasing a music culture that is so deeply rooted in korea. Just Eating Ramyeon is not representing korea.๐ญ. The movie should have explored the Kpop idol scene in the country, why is it so big there and in the world, should have explored these three characters in the depth.
Then coming to demons and track of demon hunting, they just copied it from the Japanese anime series " Demon Slayer". At least explore the lore of those demons and their leader, why is he doing it. There was no meaning to it.
As for the action thriller part, you never feel the stakes, intensity and even the battles are so one sided and bad.
I liked Rumi's character, it was written well. But other than that the movie just wanted to have a theme of demon hunting so that it can be unique. But it never really delivers.
But one thing it does well, and because of which people love this film, is its musical numbers. All the songs are very good, especially " soda Pop" and "Golden" they are just too good.
Don't just make a movie to please fans and milk them for money for their love of the music. Instead tell an honest story so that people who are not a fan of KPOP should fall in love with it.
