MAN OF CINEMA
Hitchcock created a spy espionage thriller without a single action or physical
violence is showcased in the film. Very unconventional from the similar noir films made in that era.
But for me this was more of a love story, its a melodrama, than an espionage thriller. Devlin for his selfish motive pushes his love interest Alicia into a covert operation where she married a nazi. And alicia does it without hesitating just because she loves devlin unconditionally.
The film brilliantly explores relationship themes like exploiting trust and love, jealousy , guil and opening one's self to give love, a conflict between love and duty, which shapes into a dilemma which leads to deadly consequences.
