MAN OF CINEMA
Amir Khan in a recent interview, he said he wants Sitaare Zameen Par to not
only have a legacy like Taare Zameen par and Dangal and but also drive a social moment and awareness about the issue which is very much neglected or mocked as abnormal.
But i feel if amir really wanted to do that with this film then he should not have made a remake of a spanish comedy film. The brilliant thing about Taare Zameen par and dangal is that both films are very nuanced, matured, sensitive and very well written, they were complete original and honest films.
But here in this movie all those elements were completely missing, of course there are a couple sweet moments and some funny scenes. But this movie was not supposed to be goofy or feel good comedy. People will watch this, laugh and move on. Where is the impact? Film fails miserably in providing that hard hitting impact which should put us in shame and think about these kids in an innovative way where we can include them in the society without facing any indiscrimination or inequality.
Instead film with its forced comedy and overacting of Amir khan tries to send us on a guilt trip to like the film forcefully because of the topic in hand. But then also it's very hard to like the film.
The film is unnecessarily long with unwanted plots such as amir and Genelia. If it was under 2 hours then people would have liked it better i feel.
Amir keeps making remakes and keeps making similar mistakes. He needs to create some original content with conviction and honesty.
