Scott Derrikson crafted an extraordinary hybrid of sci-fi, horror, action and
romance and it works out perfectly.
Loved the way the screenplay moves. Loved the direction. The reveal of the hollow men concept was a great thinking. I was little worried on the reasoning part but they got it well.
The only thing i wanted in this film is the exploration of the 5-day window where they get mutated or not. I really wish Scott went in that path of the film and ended it emotionally taking like more than 20 to 30 mins of runtime crafting some more sequences. It would have been a masterpiece. I really was disappointed in leaving that part as a no.
The cinematography by Dan Laustsen was magnificent. Exceptionally shot frames. Could visualise Del Toro a lot. The colour palette was mind-blowing. This film is really a visual orgasm for us cinephiles. Stark Reds, Purples and Golds color the atmosphere with by coloring the woods, floors and mutated flaura. The separation of colours while going from one place to another in action scenes were some crazy scenes to visualise.
Talking about action, it was fantastic. They were intense and thrilling. The CGI didn't feel poor to me but I think some place might have a little problem with it but It wasn't even a 1 percent problem for me in getting the experience of the film to the fullest.
The acting performances were outstanding. Anya Taylor-Joy ( my favourite actress ) was so perfect for the role. I can't say anything else. She was just perfect. Teller was amazing. This time he was too good as a stoic personality. Anya's and Teller's chemistry was amazing. It was like made for each other type shit.
The score by Trent and Atticus was phenomenal especially in the intense sequences. They nailed it. The sound design was excellent.
The film employs themes like Isolation and human connection, Duty vs Love and Secrets & Power. It depicts how relieving it is to interact with a fellow human after months of loneliness. It also shows a central drama thread where orders conflict with personal bonds but it was shown briefly. The corporate cover-up criticism worked well in this film but it was very underdeveloped. Look there were many things that can be depicted if only they had increased their runtime and focused on the important matters more cause iam ready to watch a 3hr version of this film and iam ready for even crying the hell out.
On the whole, this film is a visual masterpiece that reigns supreme over its negatives and gives a top-notch experience.
I love Anya so much 😭😭 ❤️❤️.

I didn't watch the trailer for this movie, hence it turned out to be an
enjoyable experience overall. The film had a strong start and maintained suspense initially, though the
