"Adrishya Jalakangal," written and directed by Dr.
Biju, stars Tovino Thomas and Nimisha Sajayan as the main leads, portraying the impact of war on people's lives. The story unfolds on a hillside near a chemical weapons manufacturing factory, where Nimisha and Tovino's characters reside in an old train boggy. Tovino's character, seemingly a regular guy interested in the electrical field, harbors curiosity and doubts about everything around him. His journey to unravel the mystery behind the chemical weapons factory sheds light on people's assumptions about war and its effects on humanity.
The film explores different perspectives, such as Indrans' character, who believes a peaceful world is possible if people carry books instead of weapons. Indrans, a professional and social activist fighting against immoral habits, meets a tragic fate. Similarly, Bijibal, portrayed as a musician, believes in the transformative power of music. The core theme revolves around war and its destructive impact on mankind, with diverse perspectives woven into the narrative.
Nimisha's character, Tovino's neighbor, represents a confusing yet feminist figure. Despite her genuinely approached character, it seems her absence wouldn't alter the movie significantly. The film delves into philosophical reflections on poverty, war, peace, and human nature. While some may find it all perfectly executed, it's not the universal sentiment.
The monologue sequence by Tovino, reflecting on his mother, is beautifully done, and Tovino's portrayal captures the character's essence through his attitude, mannerisms, and slang. The movie's main drawback lies in its abrupt ending just when the content starts engaging the audience. The climax feels rushed and somewhat forced, leaving some deliverables undelivered.

Invisible Windows for me is a Tovino Thomas show.
The visuals, performances, the message and the direction are superb and the best part about it is that it is never preachy. I

Without some hard hitting and thought provoking dialogues, 'Adrishya
Jalakangal' is a mystery for me. I didn't get any idea what the director tried to say. May be against war. But
